In 1971, Edoardo d'Elia, the eldest son of a family of lawyers and judges, joined the Studio Bottai, a renowed Italian law and accountancy firm, founded by On. Dott. Amerigo Bottai, a member of Parliament and former Labourist Party Vice-secretary.

In 1975 he became a partner of the Firm, toghether with Dott. Paolo Bottai and Avv. Massimo Bigerna, and so until 1989, year in which the law firm changed its name in Studio dell'Avvocato Edoardo d'Elia. The Firm, located in the elegant borough of Parioli, close to the main Court Offices, specialized in civil law, acting principally for private and corporate Clients, local government bodies, associations. In 1998 the Firm has been joined by Maurizio Scuderi and Massimiliano Fioravanti, both lawyers in criminal defences, and by Francesco Soro, a young lawyer who deals with personal injuries and insurance, by Enrica Barsi (commerciale and arts law) and by Danilo Gagliardi. Avvocato Luigi Amerigo Bottai deals with bankruptcy cases with collaboration of Dott. Pier Giorgio Bottai, account executive. Marco Bastoni, Francesca Giacovazzo and Azzurra Bocci takes care of general affairs.

By careful recruitment, we provide a service which combines the personal attention of a smaller firm along with the legal expertise, skills and resources usually associates with larger firms. Our practical approach with a strong determination to understand our Clients' businesses, enables us to solve legal problems promptly, efficently and cost effectively. We give attention to private and family problems, providing assistance to people involved in separation and divorce cases, and to foreigners travelling or living in Italy. Our Clients are principally from Italy and the European Community, and including professional firms, multi national to small businesses, religious associations, insurance companies and brokers, hospitals, health organizations, film and televisions actors. Our clients are involved in manufacturing, building, hotel development, high technology, computing, agricolture, wine producers and merchants, press and publishing, pharmaceutical and telecommunications companies, oil and gas supplying, financial services and supermarkets.

Much of our work has both national and international element, so we have developed connections with other European law firms, so we provide provide a co-ordinated service and assistance to their Clients in Italy (in addition to other qualifications, our lawyers are fluent in foreign languages), and with some of the best law firms in Florence, Naples, Bologna and Milan, wich enables us to follow our client's cases in the various cities Courtshouses. We have invested in the latest office and communications technology. Each of our lawyers is equipped with a desktop computer linked to our network, facilitating not only the swift production of documentation, but also communications such as internal and external e-mail, direct faxing and access to various legal databases, have modern telephone links, and every lawyer has a direct dial number and a voice mail to enable clients to reach us after office hours.

Although we can group a large team of lawyers togheter on a matter if necessary. We give greater importance to each Client having ready access to the legal partner with overall responsability for the Client's case, and providing them with regular on-going reports on progress of their matters and the level of costs.
